New PMPs from IIPM

I attempted the PMP certification exam, loaded with the IIPM's training, PMBOK, Head first book, Measure up Practice test, PM Study sample test. My exam did not concentrate too much on EVM, but more and more on real life scenarios, and what is the "BEST response" type of questions. I would attribute my success to the interest and real life experience in project management.

I passed the exam. Thanks for everything. The only technique that I would recommend is read up on all the 44 processes and tries to remember at least 1 major input/output and one main tool/technique and you will be fine, it helps in drawing the map to the right answer.

I am very much happy to inform that I have cleared the PMP exam on 13th Jan 2010. My special thanks to all who have helped me in achieving this. The coaching, material, CD sample and simulated mock test questions were very helpful for my preparation.

Following are steps, I followed in my preparation:

2) Studied fully the material supplied by IIPM Once.
3) My personal point of view is PMBOK is worth for Concepts and Rita is worth for explanation with examples.

I am very happy to inform you that I have appeared for PMP exam and I cleared it. I would think, the IIPM mock tests really helped me come up with a strategy to tackle the 4 hour exam. In addition, I think a thorough understanding of the application of the PMBOK guide really helped me answer most of the questions right. I took Ari's recommendation of clearing 7 successive IIPM mock tests before scheduling the exam.

I am happy to inform you that I cleared the PMP exam on 23rd Dec 2009. It would not have been possible but for the guidance I got from IIPM in the class room batch of Dec 08 - Jan 09 (last batch of 2008).

I did not refer or read any books other than PMBOK & IIPM Class notes.PMBOK & IIPM class notes may not be enough in certain areas especially related to mathematical calculations in Earned Value and Statistical methods. The Additional Reading material made available by IIPM is especially useful to fill this gap. As they say, Nothing Succeeds like Success and Ari & IIPM have been instrumental in paving the way for my success.

I cleared the PMP exam yesterday. I belong to the Nov 28-Dec 1 batch. I primarily used Rita as my study material and used IIPM study Materials as reference. I created mind maps using Ari's tips (was very useful during exam) and Rita's.

I took two simulated test from IIPM CD, which was extremely helpful in mentally and physically preparing myself for the exam.

I took the PMP Exam today and cleared it. I belong to the August Batch of IIPM.I owe it to Ari and his team for the excellent guidance and advice. Selvan was very helpful and was encouraging me through out.The materials I used were PMBOK guide and Rita Mulcahy (Sixth edition).

The IIPM CD was very helpful in preparing for the exam. It especially helped me in preparing myself physically. I would suggest you to take this aspect seriously as you
tend to lose concentration after 2 to 21/2 hours. 40 days of effort(3 hours a day and little more during weekends) would suffice. Take off from your work on the last week.

I cleared the PMP exam yesterday. Got Proficient in Planning and Execution and Moderately Proficient in rest of the areas. It was a great experience.

I studied Rita (the one based on PMBOK 3) once. I took off from my work for 10 straight days and wrote full practice exams in Oliver Lehmann, Headfirst, PMStudy, IIPM (CD), Rita, Yancy(cos &, time). This helped me a lot and somehow compensated for me not reading the PMBOK at least 4 times.

In the exam, I took 3 hr and 30 mins to finish all 200 questions. Reviewed the marked questions for 30 mins.Many questions need you to have a clear understanding of Inputs / Tools and Techniques / Outputs and where and when exactly you would employ them. Many questions need you understand clearly the various definitions and related intricacies to understand the question itself.

congratulations message on my PMP exam to announce that i have become a PMP on Monday, 21st December, just before the new year. I'm associated with IIPM since feb'08, when i attended the 4-day
PMP preparatory course and was not finding time for my preparations due to office pressures.

Finally i manage to get 3 months time and spent 2 hours daily in the first 2 months to achieve the objective. In the Last month spent 4 hours daily & in the last week i spent 6 to 8 hours of study. I would like to Thank My family & Mr. Ari for their encouragement & Mr.Selvan resolving issues with IIPM CD My sincere advise to all PMP aspirants is "Not to Postpone the Exam" after the preparatory course. Otherwise it would take lot of time for the preparations as in my case.

My study plan was
1) PMBOK - 4th edition - once
2) RITA Mulcahy - sixth edition -twice
3) Took knowledge area wise tests from IIPM CD + 2 Mock tests from IIPM CD in the last week of my preparation to understand my mental & physical focus for the 4 hour exam sitting preparation. I have planned a break exactly after 2 hours during exam, which helped in the exam as well.
4) Then again revised PMBOK once thoroughly & revised the RITA with extra focus to the exercise questions..

Please Note all the time keep memorizing the ITTO of all processes continuously.

I prepared for my exam as below:
I studied Rita for two times and PMBOK one time. I have done all the exercises of IIPM for two time only in the individual knowledge area. I took one total simulation but I failed. However I realized why I failed. The reason is no concentration in the question paper and lot of frustration after attending 50 questions. In the real exam I completed all the questions in 2.30 hrs and in the balance 1.30 hrs I reviewed all the questions in serial order and I corrected may be 5 to 6 questions. Thanks to IIPM and Ari once again.

I am glad to let you and the group that I have cleared the PMP^® exam today at Prometric Center Chennai. I would like to thank Mr.Ari for providing a excellent base for my preparation to PMP^® Exam.
As far as Lessons Learnt,
1) Prepare for at least 200 Hrs before the exam date
My Study Plan
2) Read PMBOK one full round approx. it took around (8 Days).
3) Intermediately self assess with in the study mode and take one simulated exam in the CD.
4) Reviewed IIPM material thrice. (Important) Final review on the exam date.
5) Read and attempted the RITA practice tests twice with a gap of 15 Days.
6) To perform the above, I listed my time-wasters and avoided them.
Also, took as much as IIPM CD test. To gain the confidence I had to take 15 Tests in which I took 7 tests in last 5 days. My best wishes for all the PMP^® aspirants!

I have passed the PMP^® exam yesterday(1st Sept) Some Tips for the Exam:
1) Know the Inputs ,T& T and Outputs for the knowledge areas & key formula (its there in the IIPM yahoo group-Files) in your finger tips ........this will aid in answering many questions.
2) Ensure you take as many mock test-(Minimum 7 tests) as possible. This will increase your confidence level and also will aid you to pass the actual PMP^® exam.
3) Have 30 to 40days preparation time before the exam.
4) In addition to the IIPM-Exam, I also took the test from the sites provided by the fellow PMPs...Thanks Mr.Ari for your valuable tips in the class and for sharing exam related questions in the yahoo groups. All the best-PMP-Aspirants.

My recipe for success:
1. Register for PMI membership and get PMBOK softcopy.
2. Read thoroughly PMBOK once for one month before Class room training.
3. Then attend 4 day class room training. (Ari gives excellent practical examples)
4. Then Start exam application procedure and schedule exam date about 40 days away.
5. Then straightaway start taking as many Mock exams (IIPM CD) as possible before 2 weeks of PMP exam date. Friends, The more Mock exams you take the closer you will be to the Success in actual PMP exam.

I am happy to say that I have passed the PMP exam today. I belong to July-2006 couldn’t prepare for the exam because of other engagements. After postponing 3 times, I got fed up and took leave from work for a week and I am glad I made it. I went through the IIPM material, went through Rita once, revised IIPM material a day before the exam and took one mock test from the IIPM CD. I would recommend the PMP aspirants to go through Rita carefully as I found it very interesting and helpful. At my first outset I would like to thank for the valuable sessions and ground breaking concepts during your training by you (IIPM). I was completed 35 PDUs during August 06. This week I have completed the PMP. The examination was enjoying and was similar to the IIPM mock test.

I followed your time management suggestions in the exam and completed it in 3 hours, I spent 15 Minutes for focusing and writing down formulae, Process table etc. Also, I took four times break for around 15 minute together. Last half an hour I spent for review and finally after review I closed my eyes for last 1 minute. Then I found Congratulations message on my screen.

I took the examination at Prometric Hyderabad, and found it to be calm and pleasing. Initially I was thinking a lot, and even my colleagues were kidding on me when I paid 450 USD for 35 PDUs when my company itself offers free session for 35 PDUs. But, I considered it as an investment. Now it has realized. I got several project to lead. The PMP journey with PMIism is really great and enjoying/challenging.

As I asked during your session, since the HR/COMMUNICATION sessions were took by other faculties and you promised me to provide the DVDs of your sessions. Can you give those DVDs to me If possible? I feel it should add value to my career.

I feel you are doing a great job and your experience is amazing. I'm personally confident IIPM will bring out many powerful managers in India & World.

The exam was really challenging and it took almost 4 hrs to complete and have a quick review.

feel I could have scored more marks if I attended exam immediately after the training.

From my side, one important and but hard truth: "If you are experienced much and want to be PMP certified, please do the unlearning first of your exist PM practices and learn PMI way of project Management". I heard Ari touching upon this during his first session which is very true.

I am very happy to say that I have passed the PMP exam. I registered for the 3 months online course. The way the course was laid out online was very helpful. Other than this, I used PMP study guide by Kim Heldman, Claudia Baca and Patti Jansen. Took 7 mock tests and consistently scored between 70-80 % and completed in 2 hrs 45 minutes.

I took the actual exam on Feb 7th. It was very different. None were direct questions all of them were situation questions. It took 3 hours 45 minutes to complete and I had only 15 minutes to review when I hit finish and was waiting for the results it was a moment of tension. But I was excited when I saw the message “CONGRATULATIONS”.

I am happy to announce that I have cleared the PMP exam…….. Here are some of the TIPS that should help you guys:

1. Try to take the exams within 2 months of the training. You are going to stretch it for long, then you might loose.
2. Try to take as much notes as you can during Ari’s session going through them again should help you get quite a bit of questions right.
3. Do not refer to too many materials. I referred just PMBOK and Rita. That should be more than enough.
4. Take the mock test (Provided by IIPM) at least 5-6 time before you appear for the exam.

Hi All,

    This is Balaji. I attended IIPM's PMP prep course in the Aug 26/27, Sep 2/3 weekend batch. I cleared the certification test yesterday(18Oct) morning. I took the test at Chennai Prometric
centre.

    I had scheduled the test immediately after the course so that I had about 6 weeks preparation time. But for 2 weeks, I was stuck with Chikungunya and could not do anything fruitful during that time. To fast track, I prepared rigourously the last 3 weeks, took a couple of mock tests from the IIPM CD.

      The following is the set of materials I studied:

     1. RITA : once.
     2. PMBOK : once
     3. PMP exam guide (Joseph Philips): once.
     4. IIPM course materials and scribbled notes: twice.

     The test was a lot tougher than I had expected. There were more than 70% situational type questions. During the first pass of the questions, I could answer not more than 50 of them perfectly and confidently. Having decided to almost give up, I took a break and decided to carry on. The second pass was good and I tried to answer each question reading the question 3-5 times. I utilized the 4 hours completely and was reviewing when the test ended automatically. The screen hung for around a minute and then flashed "Congratulations". Whoa! I am a PMP now!!

     I would like to thank Ari for the splendid and lively training sessions. His examples and suggestions very were valuable and had created a lot of impact.

I have cleared the PMP exam yesterday. I just wanted to point out the fact that Ari's training and questions were really helpful. In Professional Responsibility and Procurement all the questions came from Ari's CD. One topic was Point of Total Assumption. I haven't seen that any where else expect Ari's CD.
